My responsibilities include working with the Purchasing Department to provide support for the Construction Team and transition to the Operations Mode. I initially set up a document filing system for the Purchasing Team. I also provided assistance working with the Purchasing Module with SAP. I managed the office, janitorial and coffee and tea inventory and confirmed deliveries and verification for payments. Working with a blanket order or services, I would prepare the documents for Accounts Payable and obtain the required signature approvals for payment processing.

This was one of the largest Greenfield Projects in the USA at the time I started. I got on by applying for a Document Control position. Since I was a certified Legal Assistant, I felt my previous job experience and learning skills from college would help with this process. With assistance, I was able to create an electronic filing system as well as a hard copy system. This Project hired its own Construction Manager and Partnered with an Engineering Firm. There were two different mills being built on the site. We had some joint ventures related to roads and utilities. Since we were dealing with equipment companies from several European countries, there was financial bonds and Letters of Credit to track. I kept a spreadsheet and would notify the supplier if changes were made to the contract which required an amendment or if the LoC was going to expire before the Acceptance of the Equipment. I also took on Purchasing duties for the IT Department and developed several good supplier relationships which were competitive on the pricing.In regards to Audits of our records, we did very well. The first time they were audited they failed due to the lack of a documentation system. The next time, after I was hired, we did well.I participated on a newly created Values and Respect Team so help employees with issues and Conflict Resolution.In addition, I was selected to represent the Purchasing Department as an Internal ISO Auditor. This allowed me to go into the mills and review the Standards of Procedures (SOPs) with the actual implementation. A report was required after interviewing the employees and noting the positives and opportunities for improvement.Great experience!

I was brought in to help the Purchasing Department with reports, documentation, communication with suppliers to maintain requirements for ISO certification. I worked with all the Buyers and Accounting Department to keep up with the invoice status. I then worked with the Engineering Project Team to help create the Purchase Orders or Change Orders related to construction projects in other states. This was the central location for North America. My contributions were my organizational and communication skills.
