Elizabeth began working with the City of San Diego in 2013 after 8 years of experience as a Business Improvement District (BID) executive director in North Park (San Diego) and Midtown (Sacramento), where she worked with business and property owners, residents, and government agencies to benefit business while maintaining high quality of life for residents. In her current role, Elizabeth is liaison between San Diego’s BIDs, MADs, PBIDs, and small business owners to city departments responsible for land use, transportation, permitting, and public right of way. She oversees the Citywide Community Parking Districts & Parking Advisory Board, the Storefront Improvement Program, the Small Business Enhancement Program, and the Small Business Advisory Board. She also provides direction on new district formation, placemaking, mobility, and regional events. Elizabeth has experience serving on organizational boards including the North Park Historical Society, North Park Planning Committee, and the San Diego Business Improvement District Council. Prior to working with BIDs, Elizabeth served as San Diego Coastkeeper’s Outreach Director. Elizabeth brings a strong background in non-profit management, economic development, fundraising, and local government. Elizabeth was a primary contributor to the development of the Sustainable North Park Main Street Handbook and recipient of the San Diego Architectural Foundation’s Orchid Award for Sustainable Planning Policy (2011) for that effort. She is recipient of “Elizabeth Studebaker Day” in the County of San Diego on July 12, 2011, San Diego Metropolitan Magazine’s 40 Under 40 Young Business and Civic Leaders Award (2010), San Diego News Network’s 35 under 35 Community Leaders recognition (2010), Our City San Diego’s ‘Who’s Next’ recognition (2015), and holds an undergraduate degree in political science and history from the University of California, San Diego.
