I am a student of the Iowa State University class of 2027, majoring in History with a minor in Political Science. As a student, I am a member of the Iowa State's Dance Team, the Eta Beta chapter of Chi Omega Women's Fraternity, and the Pre-Law Club. I am a dance instructor at Premiere Dance Project in Waukee, Iowa, and a teacher at Blessings Care for Kids in West Des Moines, Iowa. I graduated from Waukee High School in Waukee, Iowa, where I served as a member of the Waukee Varsity Dance Team for four years while maintaining a 4.0 GPA, serving my community, and participating in other extracurriculars. Throughout high school, I gained hands-on experience through Waukee's work-based learning initiative, Aspiring Professional Experience (APEX), and the School-to-Work internship program. With APEX, I was able to experience hands-on exploration of health careers through simulations/activities, informational interviews, job shadows, and occupational research. I collaborated with a near and dear organization, the Iowa Chapter of Alzheimer's Association, to create an informational and retainable presentation for children grades 4th-5th about the warning signs, factors, and basic knowledge of Alzheimer's disease. Through the School-to-Work program, I had the opportunity to work for the Waukee Community School District in the business services department. With this internship, I gained several skills that I can apply to my future education and careers: navigating and using I-Visions software and Excel to complete various tasks, assessing WCSD department software for GASB 96 standards, and creating a new cost-per-copy that is to be utilized district-wide.I am ecstatic for my next three years at Iowa State University. I plan to continue to network, gain hands-on experience, and dive deeper into the opportunities provided around me.
