In the future, I plan to earn a PsyD in clinical psychology with a specialization in forensic psychology. I am highly interested in the psychology aspects of the law and I hope to have a career as a forensic psychologist who works primarily in the prison system. As of right now, I am looking to gain experience in a position that would help me to achieve my overall career goal.I attend California State University, Long Beach and I will be graduating in summer of 2013. I currently have a 3.6 psychology GPA with an overall GPA of 3.4 I made the President's Honors List in Spring 2012 and I made the Dean's List in Fall 2012. Although my career interest is aimed towards working with adults, my past volunteer experience mentoring children from ages 5-16, including those with autism, has helped prepare me for working with people of various ages and backgrounds. My experience at the community helpline has given me the skills to focus on others' issues without hastily issuing advice or forming judgments. In addition, I have gained experience for my desired goals by interacting with many people who suffer from mental disorders. On the helpline, I work with adults ages 18-65, which helped to determine I harbor a stronger interest in adults.In addition, my hands-on training in ABA therapy has helped to increase my knowledge of mental disorders and has given me more confidence in the ability to work in the mental health field.
