My primary responsibilities included: collaborating with individuals to schedule physician and dentist appointments, delivering medications and explaining their directions to clients, serving as a friendly and empathetic ear for individuals new to the U.S., and maintaining accurate and sensitive information within the IRC's system. Through this work, I came to appreciate how inadequate access to healthcare impacts human lives.

This TA position was for Professor Douglas Taylor's undergraduate class, The DNA Revolution. My responsibilities included: assisting students in understanding the learning objectives, hosting review sessions prior to exams, designing a quarter-long research project on genomics, assisting Professor Taylor in grading exams and projects, and tending to emails from Professor Taylor and students in a timely manner. Through this work, I gained more experience in a leadership role and developed strong communication, organization, and time management skills.

The focus of this study was to monitor lobster embryo growth ability under differing pH conditions under the Rivest lab at VIMS. My responsibilities included: measuring lobster embryos through ImageJ photo analysis, formulating Excel sheets to calculate the varying growth rates of differing stressor conditions, and collaborating with peers for further analysis. My work on this project improved my understanding of how oceanic carbon sequestration can affect wildlife diversity and my appreciation of the potential effects of biological uniformity on human populations and cultures.

The focus of this study was how water quality in the Rappahannock River impacted oyster growth. I performed extensive Ueld work involving the testing of water quality parameters, such as biodiversity, turbidity, salinity, pH, temperature, oxygen levels, and nitrate concentrations. In addition to this, I was tasked with accurately measuring oyster shells using a caliper. From here, the data was recorded and sent to the VIMS lab for analyzation and publication.
