My research in Dr. Connie Eaves' lab is focused on understanding the role of the c-MYC oncogene in the genesis of human acute myeloid leukemia.My specific skills include: -Isolation, purification, lentiviral transduction, and culture of primitive primary human hematopoietic cells-Flow cytometry analysis and sorts of primary human cells and cell lines (routinely 12 colors)-Development and use of functional assays on bulk and single primary human cells -Limiting Dilution Analyses (LDAs) to assay for human hematopoietic stem and progenitor activity and leukemia-initiating activity.-Single-cell and bulk transplants of primitive primary human cells, development of a de novo model of human leukemia -Use of various molecular biology techniques: cloning, RNA extractions, qPCR, ELISA assays, Western blots. -Design and planning of experiments, mentorship of junior students
