About Rod Docking

I am a bioinformatician and data scientist with more than ten years experience in designing, building, documenting, and validating next-generation sequencing (NGS) data analysis pipelines. As Clinical Bioinformatics Coordinator at Canada's Michael Smith Genome Sciences Centre, I led a team that built one of the first clinically-accredited NGS-based diagnostic tests in the world. During my PhD thesis, I developed an RNA-Seq based test for acute myeloid leukemia, identifying novel prognostic biomarkers and potential drug vulnerabilities in high-risk leukemia. I am passionate about building and iterating on data pipelines to bring real benefits to patients and their families.
