Located at Columbia Heights Village, a subsidized housing apartment complex.Facilitates twice weekly trauma-informed play groups for children ages 6 to 14 experiencing housing insecurity. Manages caseload of 5 clients ages 6 to 10, conducting background/needs assessments and initiating appropriate referalls. Creating one-page resource fliers on the McKinney–Vento Homeless Assistance Act, DCPS truancy and attendance policies, 504 and IEP Plans, and mentoring resources to be made available to 400+ clients across 9 sites.

Connects 200+ low and middle-income seniors to transportation, tech support, home maintenance assistance, social connection, and community events to empower their ability to age in place. Manages 30+ client membership renewals each month to ensure continual service delivery. Optimizing a 250+ piece referral spreadsheet of local senior-friendly businesses by updating contact information, verifying recent reviews, and enhancing layout for improved user experience. Located at the Good Hope Road site, serving single women experiencing chronic homelessness in a transitional housing setting.Ensured the wellbeing of 30+ clients in a residential facility by de-escalating crises, communicating personal needs to case managers, and enforcing program rules. Conducted phone screening interviews, in-person interviews, and tours with prospective clients, discerning program fit and histories of homelessness, mental health, and substance abuse. Oriented new clients to program by explaining program and DHS rules, collecting client data for HMIS, and assisting clients with intake paperwork. Managed maintenance and supplies inventory (liaising with vendors and property management company, completing weekly office and living space supply orders, overseeing COVID-19 rapid test stock and distribution) of a 14,000 square foot facility from January 2023 to June 2023 after the resignation of the Assistant Program Manager. Organized and communicated the weekly schedules of 12 on-site staff members to ensure continuous site coverage. Facilitated monthly Good Hope Road site all-staff meetings, ensuring ongoing communication between leadership, site staff, and residents.

Served as initial point of contact for potential clients by collecting information for intake team or referring individual to more appropriate housing resources. Facilitated twice weekly COVID-19 testing events for 20+ residents and staff during the pandemic. Utilized Volgitstics to schedule and communicate with 400+ volunteers to execute 11 weekly meal events. Conducted outreach with 25 organizations (university civic engagement centers, corporations, professional associations, etc.) to strengthen volunteer pipeline. Created and managed in-kind donation inventory tracking system, ensuring adequate supply levels for 2 transitional housing sites. Created a document containing 27 local affordable mental health resources distributed by the human resources department to staff members in need of mental health support.

Office of Gerald E. Connolly (VA-11)Co-authored research which influenced infrastructure legislation designed to reduce road congestion in Virginia. Gained experience managing written communication with constituents regarding environmental issues. Obtained expertise in customer relationship management software by recording constituent data from daily phone calls.

City Year is an AmeriCorps program aiming to close the achievement gap in urban schools through the placement of AmeriCorps members in high-need public schools for a year of service. I served over 50 hours a week in a Washington, D.C. classroom to help improve academic course performance, attendance, and student behavior through whole-classroom and individualized interventions. These interventions included the daily co-instruction of 46 second and third-grade students, the planning and execution of daily individualized literacy lessons to 12 below grade level English Language Arts students, and coaching 5 students through individualized weekly behavior-oriented goals to improve social-emotional well being. I also collaborated with a team of 7 fellow AmeriCorps members to plan and execute school-wide events by coordinating space usage, soliciting community partners for donations, and facilitating student participation.
