I have been proactive in gaining insight into my future career path as a Solicitor. Participating in virtual work experiences with Browne Jacobson and Springpod broadened my horizons to different perspectives of law. Both helped me understand the challenges and benefits of a legal career and the roles and responsibilities of law practitioners. I also gained work experience at Co-Op Legal Services which introduced me to estate planning and probate, previously unfamiliar subjects. I observed calls with clients looking for legal representation, assisted in drafting emails to current clients on matters in family and probate law, and worked with experienced solicitors as they navigated a high volume of cases. I look forward to my work experience with Mark White & Co., where I will be exposed to International Law, a field of Law I have yet to experience, and examine how professionals critically analyse legal concepts.Studying Mathematics in Context alongside History, Law and Sociology, three essay-based subjects, has enabled me to balance intense workloads and adapt different revision strategies. My academic pursuits in Law and History are strengthening my research, analysis and evaluation skills in both my coursework and independent study. I have enhanced my ability to shape and contrast my arguments through the evaluation of areas of law, such as non-fatal offences and contract terms, and through my History coursework on the European Witchcraze and the legal frameworks established to control this issue.My role as a lifeguard, with Duty Manager responsibilities leading a team of four, has expanded my skill set. I have advanced my leadership skills, and the ability to multitask and understand the importance of clear communication to ensure the smooth running of operations. Working towards the goal of Ten Tors and my Bronze Duke of Edinburgh award showcases my teamwork and commitment. As a club swimmer, swimming has taught me to persevere, and work independently and highlighted my drive to succeed, traits I plan to continue in my academic and professional endeavours.
