I am a climate and gender equality activist from Sligo, Ireland. I’m currently in second year in a B/A of psychology, and I’m working as a research assistant for UCS’s Agri Mental Health group. Through a variety of projects and studies, we are striving to shed light onto the mental health struggles faced by many farmers, and investigating evidence-based supports to help alleviate these struggles.With regards to activism, I’m a bit of a jack-of-all-trades, having championed many causes and organisations in my work. For example, I have been organising strikes with Fridays for Future and leading climate education in my locality since 2019. I headed a campaign with UNICEF in 2021 regarding the rights and inclusion of LGBTQ+ students in Irish schools. This campaign involved media with UNICEF and a meeting with the current Irish Minister for Equality and Youth, Roderick O’Gorman, to discuss my recommendations and thoughts. I have also done work with ECO-UNESCO, having been selected for their Youth for Sustainable Development program. This involved various writing and speaking engagements, such as meeting the Minister for Climate Eamon Ryan for a radio debate. Recently, I was asked to speak at the annual Earth Gala regarding my activism work. I appeared on the Late Late Show in 2022 to present my research and campaign for neurodiversity acceptance. Currently I am working with Plan International Ireland as part of their Youth Advisory Panel, working for equality for girls and women around the world.
