I held the position of Cabin Counselor, and had the responsibility of supervising and accompanying 10 twelve-year-old campers during daily activities including snorkeling, kayaking, stand up paddle boarding, hiking, and rock climbing. I also accompanied the campers during meals and stayed in the cabin with them at night. Throughout the summer I organized and oversaw athletic activities such as recreational soccer. I was also selected to be one of eight team captains in CIC's week of camp-wide competitions and games.

In this role, I worked at UCLA under Dr. Ann Hirsch in the Department of Molecular, Cell, and Developmental Biology on an ongoing experiment testing soil bacteria for potential as plant growth promoting biofertilizers. I conducted an experiment with an undergraduate student on Methylobacterium radiotolerans over the course of five months to evaluate the effect of this bacterium on the health and growth of corn, sorghum, wheat, and alfalfa seedlings. Upon completion of the project, I wrote a research paper and presented my findings at a research fair at my high school. The overall goals of this research aimed to target global food insecurity by offering sustainable replacements to chemical fertilizers.

As an employee at Jeni's Ice Creams, I rotated through different responsibilities throughout the day. In a given shift, I would scoop ice cream, make waffle cone mix, work the cash register, package to go orders, wash dishes, and clean the shop. Jeni's highly values the customer experience, and a large part of my job included interacting with customers, giving flavor recommendations, and working with the team to maintain an efficient and encouraging work environment.
