I undertook 4 days of training in June 2023 to become a Carbon Literacy Trainer. This involved a two-day seminar, a practice day where we presented a section of training to the class and received lengthy feedback before completing our final presentation on the last day. Since passing the training I have co-presented to academics and solo presented to business management students. As the Lead trainer, the tasks include delivering the presentation, explaining the activity instructions and answering questions.

I took part in Carbon Literacy Facilitator training in November 2022 and since then have facilitated Carbon Literacy Sessions for Geography students and Academics. The main tasks involve supporting the learners during the activities by repeating instructions, helping to guide discussions and keeping track of all the activity resources.

The Recruitment and Admissions team runs Open Days, Visit days, Welcome events and Career Fairs. I assisted in the running of these eventsAs a Student Ambassador, I have worked at various roles, most often as a Campus Tour Guide. I had to undertake additional training to do this role. I would give prospective students and their parents tours around the buildings and answer any questions about University life. As a Subject Ambassador, I represent my course at recruitment events. I would assist the academics with their presentations and facility demonstrations during Applicant Visit days. I am there to give my perspective of the course and facilitate participation.

The Placement Support Team at University works to help students access placements and internships to support their courses and gain work experience.My principal duty as an intern on the team is managing a caseload of students and supporting them through the approval process. Responsibilities this requires is the consistent recording and maintaining of data, in compliance with GDPR and Health and Safety and act as a key point of contact to other students, staff and providers looking to engage with the service.

I have an active role in multiple projects which requires good organisational and time management skills to ensure the completion of my tasks. I also work in groups, comprising of other planners and engineers, this has pushed my listening, communication and problem-solving skills as we seek to come to a solution from each of our different perspectives. I assist the managers in a variety of tasks, creating maps and diagrams, analysing data and writing reports.

The PAL scheme is where second and third-year students provide advice and guidance to students in the year below to aid their academic performance. It is a chance for students to ask questions, develop study/revision techniques and gain additional clarity on content from lectures and seminars.I was allotted a caseload of students to manage throughout my second year. I was tasked with staying in regular contact with them, develop a rapport and help them connect with university life

As a member of the Libraries Student Experience team, a part of the Library and Cultural Services support for students, I brought a student voice to the development of Library services and provided peer support to students using Library services and learning spaces. I provided roving support in study areas, assisted customers and helped and supported with equipment including self-service machines and MFDs.I took part in various workshops including on Equality, Diversity and Inclusivity focused decolonisation of the curriculum. This has contributed to my knowledge and understanding of equality, diversity, and inclusion within a higher education setting. I took part in desk-based, real-world research skills which engaged my critical appraisal and critical thinking skills.

The role of a Peer Mentor is to work within the Student Services’ Learning Communities team to provide a friendly and professional peer-to-peer support programme. A peer mentor helps the new students settle into University life by building friendships, supporting engagement with campus activities and being a key point of contact for any concerns a new student may have. I was given charge of a group of 10 first-year students and was tasked with staying in contact with them throughout the year. I would regularly email them about the events happening at the university and set up meetings for us to get to know each other. I was also tasked with interviewing them about their university experiences, recording the data in Excel and feeding it back to my managers

This internship supported the planning of the Community Learning Festival as part of the event organising team. I worked as part of the CLF organising committee, attended all organising meetings and supported the team with a wide range of administrative and planning tasks.

A part-time role at the university assisting with the Student Engagement team's annual audit. My main task comprised of logging information by hand and then transferring the data to Excel. This required high levels of accuracy and constant communication with the team.
