The Pharmacogenomics Knowledge Base (PharmGKB, www.pharmgkb.org) is a comprehensive resource that curates knowledge about the impact of genetic variation on drug response for clinicians and researchers. My role as a Scientific Curator involved:- Reading and analysing scientific literature, entering associations between genetic variants and drug responses in the knowledge base (variant annotations) - Summarising and evaluating the evidence for pharmacogenetic associations and assigning a level of evidence (clinical annotations). - Creating drug pharmacodynamic and pharmacokinetic pathways based on literature evidence.- Researching and writing manuscripts for very important pharmacogenes (VIPs) and drug pathways.- Managing national and international collaborative projects.- Working with researchers and clinicians on Clinical Pharmacogenetics Implementation Consortium (CPIC) guideline manuscripts and updates. - Curation of genetic information in drug labels. - Creating haplotype tables. - Social media including scientific blog posts. - Presentations and lectures regarding personalized medicine and PharmGKB.

Investigating mast cell chemoattractants which could be involved in the pathogenesis of Asthma. The project also involved analyzing microarray data and investigating potential genes of interest, using ontology databases as well as an extensive review of literature.

A Candidate Gene Association Study to determine whether Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms (SNPs) within candidate genes have a genetic association with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD).
