Planned, developed and implemented a study to collect all trauma data through the CPSC'sNational Electronic Injury Surveillance System. Study was conducted in collaboration withCDC. Established and managed the first comprehensive injury prevention (IP) program within theMaryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.Principal Investigator and lead author for six of seven proposals funded by US DHHS forinjury and disability prevention (including firearm surveillance; bicycle safety, seatbelt and smoke detector use); budget oversight for $1.5 million annually; supervised 1-15staff; developed and administered IP grant program for 24 MD local jurisdictions.Worked with the MD Hospital Review Commission to mandate the use of external cause ofinjury coding for hospital discharge data.

Developed, coordinated, implemented and evaluated state bond program providing capitalfunding for construction, renovation and equipping of Adult Day Care centers. Co-Investigator of grant from the DHHS to train caregivers to increase the functionalstatus of community based elderly at risk of institutionalization.Coordinated the contract with the University of Maryland, Maryland Institute of EmergencyMedical Services Systems to establish a Maryland Injury Prevention Advisory Committee. TheCommittee developed the first MD State Plan for Injury Prevention. Served as Chairperson,Sub-Committee on Domestic Injuries.Provided occupational therapy consultation to statewide Adult Day Care Programs, HomeHealth Agencies and Geriatric Evaluation Services.Studied fall related injuries among the elderly served by the programs listed above.

Major portion of practice involved establishing and directing Occupational Therapy (OT)clinics and programs. Practice involved multiple age groups (children to the elderly) andmultiple diagnoses (cancer, arthritis, head injury, spinal cord injury, developmentaldisabilities, stroke, and other injuries) and improving various life skills. * Worked in various facilities including hospitals, schools, and nursing homes.CONSULTATION
