I gained a strong independent research skill set, with experience handling various radionuclides in interdisciplinary environmental laboratories. - I am accustomed to regular interactions with industry in order to keep my work relevant to real world situations and regularly present work to a variety of audiences, including oral presentations, written reports and academic research articles. - I am conversant with various radiochemical and mineralogical analytical techniques- I have experience modelling thermodynamic solution/ mineral interactions applicable to both industrial and environmental systems. During this placement year I worked within an active research and development laboratory where I was responsible for developing commercially viable products to enhance polymeric additive systems. Here I gained an understanding of the various scientific and commercial skills required within an industry based role. I regularly utilised both synthetic and analytical chemistry techniques and completed required paperwork including health and safety documentation and scientific reports.
