In 2002 I began a new career as a government affairs consultant for non-profit entities. I enjoyed working with people to achieve their goals - strengthening and supporting our public education system, creating programs that serve people with barriers to employment such as lack of education, former incarceration, and disability, passing laws that make Texas safer for children, reforming the juvenile justice system. I did a great deal of advocacy and grassroots training for clients and for their volunteers, and I enjoyed that very much. It was exciting to persuade someone to get involved in grassroots advocacy and to watch them as they became successful at it. I'm a big believer in grassroots involvement in the political process and the process of developing public policy.Specialties: legislative advocacy, agency advocacy, policy research and development, grassroots training, coalition building and management, profile enhancement, speech and media training, event planning for non-profits.
