Buyerminds’ unique persuasive design methodology is based on customer insights and persuasion psychology. When I joined, as part of the management team, my role mainly focussed on enabling growth of the agency by empowering the existing workforce with my skill set: leading large client programmes to successful delivery of (re)design projects. Next to that I was in charge of building out the team's capabilities and capacity. I contributed to the development of internal and external training programmes (Buyerminds Academy) and successfully led numerous pitches on new client work. Head Of UxDdb & Tribal Amsterdam Sep 2013 - Apr 2016Amsterdam Area, NetherlandsDDB & Tribal (merged into DDB Unlimited in 2019) was a leading advertising agency in The Netherlands, serving clients from all over the world. The agency worked on the belief that ‘relevant creativity’ is not just about developing powerful communicative ideas, but also about creating a distinctive strategy, tactics and execution in media and technology.I headed the UX department, leading a team of user experience designers and creative technologists. Products my team created - some of them award-winning - varied from: digital campaigns and (mobile) apps to big platform sites (including e-commerce) and - on occasion - (in-store) interactive installations. My work mostly consisted of strategic planning of client projects and transformational programmes, liaising with the Head of Strategy and her team. I facilitated numerous workshops to involve clients in our process and road to product 1.0 ensuring stakeholder buy-in from the get-go. In the design phase, the UX team worked in close collaboration with the creative and visual design departments and external development parties (a.o. Mediamonks). Always - and relentlessly so - steering towards bespoke world class creative work. -

Executive Ux DirectorMediamatic Sep 2009 - Nov 2010Amsterdam Area, NetherlandsMediamatic Lab is an online bureau specialised in creating social networking sites and other innovative media applications with a focus on sharing knowledge, culture and friends. Head Of ProductHyves Jan 2009 - Sep 2009Amsterdam Area, NetherlandsHyves was a social networking site - best compared to Facebook, but unique to The Netherlands. Originally designed for college students, Hyves was founded in 2004. In 2009 the platform counted 8 million users (57% of all Dutch people) and generated over 5.5 billion page views per month. In my role, I led the redesign project of the full platform and successfully relaunched hyves.nl in august 2009. I set-up and led a product department - including recruiting candidates for both product owner and (UX) design roles. Plus I drove the development of the strategic roadmap in close collaboration with the founding partners and fellow MT members.Hyves was later sold to TMG (a leading, but rather traditional media company) and ‘lost the battle’ of international platforms (Twitter and Facebook had grown tremendously). -
Head Of ProductGrasscity Jul 2007 - Jan 2009Amsterdam Area, NetherlandsGrasscity.com (now incorporated in High Tide Inc.) is a leader in sales of smoking accessories worldwide. I was responsible for the migration (UX&UI redesign, frontend and backend development, database migration and content optimisation) of the global e-commerce platform to Magento (then 1.0). We were a launching customer and worked in close collaboration with Roy Rubin, founder and CEO of Magento. This enable a smooth and successful transition, without a moment of operational standstill.

Head Of ProductMusicminutes Aug 2006 - Jul 2007Amsterdam Area, NetherlandsMusicminutes can best be understood as 'Spotify avant la lettre'. A legal music download and streaming platform, the first of its kind. On top of the direct service to music lovers worldwide, MusicMinutes had a marketing/activation 'layer'. With companies like Heineken, AirMiles and Albert Heijn, customers could save for free music (delivered in free minutes or specific tracks/albums/collections). In my role I was responsible for the ongoing and continuous experience design and technological development of the Musicminutes platform. Unfortunately the start-up didn't grow to the scale that it could win the fight with the record labels that demanded DRM that basically formed a burden in the experience of downloading and playing tracks. -
