I am based on the trading floor where I have been trained in various roles. Currently I work as part of the racing team where we are responsible for ensuring that the odds displayed in our shops are kept up to date in a constantly changing marketplace. We also ensure that the events are settled correctly and promptly, often having to adjust the amounts to be paid to customers and it is therefore important that this is done not only quickly but also accurately. This process also involves settling bets for our online business and I have built up a good understanding of the working of our computer system. Whilst it is a bespoke system I am confident that I could quickly learn how to use other computer systems once I had been shown how to do so.I have also worked on the telebetting team, where I take incoming calls from shops requesting permission to take large or unusual bets. I had to liase with traders who would determine whether or how much should be accepted and relay this information to the shops. I then input all the information into our system for future reference. In this same department I dealt with queries from shops, price discrepancies and ambiguous bets. I worked in a Coral betting office. I started off as a trainee assistant manager, and quickly progressed to an assistant manager. My job involved working with the public, taking bets, handling money and queries and totalling up figures. I have a real interest in a range of different sports, especially football and greyhounds. I worked at Boots store in Sutton, Surrey as a Christmas temp. My time at Boots included working in the photo lab where I would be developing films, making CDs. I also worked on the tills and dealt with customers’ online orders. I learnt so much within the photo lab, and also gained so much more confidence in my telephone manner.

I worked at Chessington World of Adventures as a photography host. I worked with Picsolve International to provide the public with photos of their time on the theme park rides. I ran a unit alone on a not so busy day, but sometimes I worked as part of a team in busier times.
