My role exists to manage the day to day operation of the IT services on site and organise contractors and projects involved with the numerous IT systems. I am the site manager of our help-desk contractor and work with engineers there and in our head office to find solutions for the business. I manage numerous other contractors throughout project builds and specialised network or application support.I am tasked with fault finding and fixing all the network aspects of our operation along with identifying improvements and cost saving opportunities. Prioritising and adapting to meet all these different challenges is the most enjoyable part of my current role and the investigation and research steps required to fix issues is especially rewarding.I am the first point of contact for site to approach regarding projects involving network expansion, assistance with remote control system addition, desktop changes, and often application support. Along with physical system installation support I am engaged in the support of many site critical programs and databases. I helped develop student and assessment booklets regarding various Resources and Infrastructure Industry (RII) units along with contextualizing BSB units for the mining industry. Ensuring company compliance with AQTF and NTIS requirements for the training material. Flying in and out of Perth I was employed to review all the administrative activities on site and ensure adequate and correct information was passing through to the head office. This information included the financial and EOM data required to ensure the successful tracking of spending and operations. My role was established in order to provide an intermediary between the site operations and head office in Perth. Working with both departments I was able to ensure the challenges of the remote site was supported by head office and conversely the information coming out of site was accurate and timely. Along with this I worked with all the different departments on site to best identify their reporting bottlenecks and financial challenges and developed systems to alleviate these and best enable them to justify and report costs. Checking the contractor invoicing procedures and ensuring monthly accruals were correct was a major part of this role. One such investigation I undertook resulted in a $45,000 return to the company by identifying a incorrect charging to Territory Resources through a contractors incorrect accounting program. I also assisted Mining Operations with spread sheet construction and improved tracking of activities. This ranged from Drill and Blast consumable tracking to ore movement tracking and mine scheduling. Show less
