Built and ran WCK’s first-ever policy shop, led organization as a member of WCK's small executive team.· Established new policy department for a internationally-prominent NGO providing global emergency food relief including hot meals during natural disasters and crises. Hired and trained staff and led the development and execution of an ambitious plan to change systems domestically and internationally around disaster response feeding. Led the hands-on integration of policy staff into feeding operations to assist relief work and gain first-hand expertise of needed policy changes.· Served as part of the leadership team that managed exponential growth of hundreds of millions of dollars as well as expansion into new areas of need around the world, especially Ukraine after the invasion.· Participated on the ground to lead feeding operations all over Ukraine under extreme risk, including in south and east near contact lines, as part of fact gathering operations to better represent the organization in ongoing operational discussions with the Ukraine government, the U.S. government, and the World Food Program.· Participated on the ground in the emergency food relief efforts in Buffalo in response to the mass shooting at the TOPS supermarket. Led successful negotiations with the state government to transition to longer-term efforts to address food security and sustained local economic development through community-owned and staffed food providers. · Led the organization's leadership team in assisting the White House to prepare for and conduct the second-ever White House Conference on Hunger, Nutrition, and Health.· Provided executive leadership, counsel, and mentorship across the organization.

Nominated by the President and unanimously confirmed by the Senate to serve as Chairman and Commissioner of the primary consumer product safety agency in the U.S. Government.· Provided strategic vision and daily executive leadership both to modernize numerous critical agency functions and capabilities and to vastly improve agency performance on behalf of consumers. · Built out CPSC’s risk-assessment capacity and inter-agency cooperation at U.S. ports to interdict more harmful products prior to entry into the U.S. · Forged deep and collaborative relationships with safety regulators from Canada, Mexico, the European Commission, and other jurisdictions to drive global harmonization of regulations to highest levels of safety.· Strengthened agency enforcement activities and increased civil penalties in line with Congressional direction and, as facts supported, held companies more accountable for violations of consumer product safety laws. · Tackled persistent deadly hazards, especially to children, by bringing all agency resources to address decades of children strangling to death from window cord blinds. · Drove industry innovation and consensus-based standards work to reduce deaths from carbon monoxide poisoning from portable generators, as well as from off-road vehicles. · Advanced negotiations with product manufacturers and distributors to achieve more consumer-friendly recall remedies, such as full and fast refunds, free home pick up, in-home installation of repairs, and additional testing to determine full repairs.· Launched a Chairman’s Challenge, calling for safety innovation in product design.· Initiated a paradigm shift to address children’s exposure to harmful chemicals in consumer products.· Addressed brain injuries in youth sports, including gathering the commissioners of the NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL, and MLS, along with the then-Director of the CDC, to discuss an all-sports approach.
