Ellis Odynn is a prominent figure in the global FinTech and AI ecosystem and champions the title of Canada’s first Chief AI Officer. She has been recognized as one of Canada’s “Top 100 Most Powerful Women”, named the “Most Influential FinTech Businesswoman” for 2019, awarded as one of the "Top Women in FinTech & Blockchain" in 2021, named "Top 20 Most Influential Canadian Women in Cryptocurrency" in 2022, and received the “One to Watch Award” at the Women in Finance Awards.Ellis is a frequent speaker at international conferences and has spoken at the Financial Action Task Force on financial crime risks of FinTech, at APEC on law and AI, and at ACAMS on FinTech issues and financial crime, among others. Ellis has fully immersed herself in the tech world. She is a technology leader at EY where she specializes in technology strategy and transformation. Before joining EY, she was the Executive Director and Chief AI Officer of the Digital Finance Institute, a global technology think tank. Previously, Ellis was in charge of a financial crime unit for digital currency exchange transactions, responsible for investigating and tracing Blockchain transactions internationally for fraud mitigation and reporting to law enforcement and government agencies.When she isn’t uniting the AI industry, Ellis dedicates her time to running a charitable organization that brings education, security and inclusion to refugee girls in Africa and the Middle East.
