Did you know 92% of new parents report increased conflict and 67% declining relationship satisfaction or that 1 in 3 new mothers and 1 in 6 new fathers suffer from perinatal anxiety or depression? Parents needed a better way. After over 25 years as an Emotionally Focused relationship counsellor, after seeing countless couples struggling since becoming a family, I set out to create a new pathway to bridge the "before" and "after" of early parenthood. Becoming Us provides training in a range of father and partner-inclusive relationship-based interventions for true family-centred care - without the need for counselling, therapy or even working with couples. The Becoming Us integrated model of family-centred care is designed to provide wraparound layers of support for families. Becoming Us is:🌱 Breaking new ground: The Becoming Us model is reshaping how care providers understand and support new parents and families. Based on adult attachment theory and developmental psychology, it provides a framework that addresses the complex interplay of psychological, emotional, relational, and social factors that impact family wellbeing during this vulnerable time. Becoming Us perinatal relationship education equips care professionals with comprehensive resources and tools to foster secure bonds, deepen emotional connections and promote family resilience. I’m honoured to have had our Becoming Us training and programs considered alongside Bringing Baby Home and Circle of Security.🌍Making a difference together: Including fathers and partners and nurturing relationships through this critical time support the whole family. I am fortunate to have had opportunities to collaborate with local area health, national and leading international organisations, contribute to research, and speak at conferences to advance the importance of relationship-informed perinatal care. I am humbled to have been called a "parenthood pioneer" for my work, but my greatest desire is to make a difference by equipping other care professionals for the benefit of new families.🔑 Let's Connect: If you’re a professional or organisation interested in widening and deepening the level of support you are able to provide for parents, I’d be delighted to connect.
