Sheffield Eco Motorsports is an extra-curricular engineering team at the University of Sheffield; founded and operated by engineering students. The team's goal is to design, build and enter a battery electric vehicle in the international Shell Eco Marathon competition. Working as a SALT (Student Led Associate for Learning and Teaching), consisted of representing the engineering faculty in conducting an investigation into improving International/Home engineering students.-Conducting research looking into improving relations between international and home students in the Engineering department -Conducting focus groups and surveys and accurately capturing students’ opinions and views regarding inter-student and student-academic interactions-Design and implementation of strategy in order to improve overall student to student interaction-Reporting and presenting findings along with recommendations on required actions to improve overall student experiences to engineering department academic staff

Working within the Prototype Systems department, developing proof of concept and one-off projects related to vehicle hybridisation and fully electric drive-train applications. Notable achievements include:-Brusa based battery charger unit build and testing for Li-ion battery for Hybrid Electric race car application-Servicing and fault diagnosis of Li-ion batteries for Hybrid Electric race vehicles.-Testing and validation of a Permanent Magnet machine designed for stop-start engine functionality for a low cost moped. -Extended temperature coolant investigation for IGBT gate driver for endurance racing applications-Post race data analysis and report writing of electric drivetrain performance in an all electric racing series-Diagnostic work on charging capabilities for a one-off, all-electric Morgan vehicle involving CAN communications and reconfiguration of Brusa charging unit.
