Current11/2022 thru 7/2024: Cargill-GIT Region NA Business Apps: Reverse Engineering - Supplied upstream/downstream flows, file mapping documents, file description, sample data, file relationships, pseudo code programs, and assisted in interviews with business specialist and addressed follow-up inquiries. Synon has tools to assist in documenting usages of files and programs. The iSeries has tools used to provide file description for field size, type, select/omits, etc., to meet the necessary requirements for reverse engineer files and programs/systems. There were home-grown tools that provided ease in collecting menu information such as who, what menu, usages, security, where programs were located on menus and journals for tracing data updates by whom, when, by which program, and what was changed in the data files. During this experience, I provided documents in Microsoft Excel and Word and Visio which were published on a Cargill SharePoint site. A co-worker and myself providing a handbook in documenting the process so consistency could be maintained. I used Synon to navigate through programs and ran iSeries queries and/or SQL for collection of different data challenges. Knowledge Transfer to new personnel: recordings and documents.
