Whilst working at ASDA, my responsibilities have included ensuring the shelves are fully stocked allowing the department to meet the weekly sales target, training new employees, mentoring staff, preparing food for sale in a hygienic manner and operating warehouse equipment during deliveries. This job has taught me to be customer focused and answer customer enquiries and complaints professionally, to proficiently delegate tasks to optimise workplace efficiency and proper time management skills. Working in a an extremely fast-paced environment means I must be flexible with my duties - often I am moved to departments where I have no experience - I am forced to think quick on my feet and closely follow manager instructions. I have learned to approach these challenges enthusiastically as an opportunity to diversify my experience and I embrace working closely to help the rest of the ASDA team. I currently work in the Home and Leisure department but I also have experience throughout the ASDA store including Bakery (part-time colleague for 3 years), Home Shopping and Fresh departments.

I planned and prepared netball sessions that allowed the children to progress and develop their skills whilst maintaining safe play. I organised the resources so that gameplay could commence and met regularly with league organisers to coordinate tournaments and matches. I also communicated with parents and club officials prior to forth coming matches, to remedy any concerns that arise such as health and safety and umpiring matches and tournaments without bias. Through my coaching experience I learned many important skills regarding being an effective team leader. These skills including adapting my teaching style to methods that best suited the learning styles of the children, communicating my goals of the session clearly and praising the teams achievements. I welcomed receiving constructive feedback - albeit positive or negative - from the team, parents and my superiors as this allowed me to reflect on and improve my practise. I enjoy applying this skill in other aspects of my life, for example, during my time as part of the University of Strathclyde Eco Vehicle Team. I greatly appreciated the teams feedback on my work as it allowed me to learn valuable experience from older students, improving my understanding , and hence ultimately, growing as an engineer. Due to my passion for this job, my superiors recommended me to undertake a professional training course and I obtained my UKCC Level 1 Qualification in Netball Coaching in November 2016.
