2007 - Present ~19 yrs 6 mos

Managing Director

Esm Consulting Services

Singapore

Provided consulting services in the areas of direct and indirect go-to-market, sales, marketing, branding, and hiring in Asia Pacific. Market entry for new/growing companies, as well as providing a strategic and operational perspective and supplemental execution for large established brands with growth initiatives.I was initially a one-person show, setting my company up from scratch. I had the entrepreneurial itch and timing was right for me to exercise it and take a risk. I expanded the reach and capability with a network of partnerships and contractors. This chapter of my career made me flex my finance and administration muscle. It also commercially expanded my view across a number of new industries, as well as diverse businesses and executive networks. My company was profitable within one quarter. Clients included Nokia, Standard Chartered Bank, ASK Solutions, Cisco, iBAHN, The Wireless Broadband Association.

2005 - 2007 ~2 yrs

Vice President Global Sales, Chief Commercial Officer, Chief Marketing Officer

Singapore, Japan, Global

NTT DoCoMo acquired interTouch (intertouch.com)This was my first global executive leadership appointment, reporting directly to the Board. We were PE-funded; the mandate was to turn the business around in order to have a successful exit.interTouch - the leader in IT services and high-speed business-grade secure mobile connectivity for the hospitality sector - relocated its global headquarters from Australia to Singapore to get closer to its global customers and partner network. I was hired as a member of the executive management team to run global sales. Within two quarters I was responsible for all commercial aspects and go-to-market: direct sales, pre-sales/solutions architecture, partner sales, business development, marketing, partnerships, top accounts, deal desk and inside sales. The team and I were measured on top line and bottom line, responsible for the global commercial P&L and managed profitability to the deal level for all major accounts. The majority of our client offerings were true managed services; the team and I were measured on new "land" business and ongoing "expand"/recurring revenue. There was significant evangelism of the model and impact required at that time, as part of the value proposition. In parallel to going to market externally, we were transforming our sales/commercial capabilities internally, creating what would be called a Customer Success or Customer Outcomes model in present time. We had customers and presence in 30 countries, going to market in five regions: Asia, Australia, China, Europe and North America. Recognizing a high-growth opportunity, I spearheaded expansion into the Middle East, both strategically and operationally, creating a sixth region which within nine months was our most profitable. I had the privilege of leading a creative, passionate team of 45, and expanded team of 100, who taught me so much about a vertical industry that was new to me.We achieved a successful exit, acquired by NTT DoCoMo.

2003 - 2005 ~2 yrs

Managing Director / Vice President Asia Pacific Japan China

Singapore / Hong Kong

Hired to manage iPass’s Internet Divison for Asia. Responsibility quickly expanded to the whole of Asia, to include our Enterprise and Services Divisions. Within a year, my portfolio included both Japan and Australia, to round out the full Asia Pacific region (13 countries).Responsible for Sales and Contribution Margin. Direct sales, channel sales, Enterprise, Commercial/SMB, and B2C, across multiple industry verticals. Consistently hit (exceeded) quarterly targets; awarded region of the year and leader of the year. Triple-hatting as head of Business Development and Operations, expanded our tech footprint/points of presence across Asia Pacific, negotiating with the top Telcos and ISPs across the region. This was a key strategic enabler to Enterprise sales. In parallel, grew the channel and the depth of our sell-to-and-through partner ecosystem. Built a diverse team across sales, pre-sales, business development, marketing, engineering, customer support and HR. Served as an officer on the global leadership team; successfully took the company public on the NASDAQ.
