Michael Johnson is Vice President, Corporate Counsel of The Prudential Insurance Company of America. He provides legal support to the Pension Risk Transfer (PRT) and International Reinsurance teams within Prudential Retirement Strategies. He also counsels Prudential Financial on reinsurance matters enterprise wide.Prior to joining Prudential in 2016, Michael was a partner with the law firm Dorsey & Whitney LLP in Minneapolis. He had a diverse corporate, securities and regulatory law practice across industries. The cornerstone of his practice was mergers and acquisitions (M&A) for banks, insurers and reinsurers.Michael has a bachelor’s degree from Morehouse and a law degree from Minnesota. He studied medicine at Chicago before switching to law. During and immediately after law school, he was a summer associate with Shearman & Sterling LLP, Foley & Lardner LLP and Sidley Austin LLP and a law clerk for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.Michael works from home in Summit, New Jersey, and from Prudential Tower in Newark. A lifelong learner, he has studied computer science and finance at Harvard Extension School while working full time.
