Managing and convening County-wide VOICE Core Leadership Team in Porter County, including recruitment and organization of a diverse group of individuals and organizational representatives of youth-related organizations from the community.Supporting youth engagement strategies and studying CDC's Best Practices model in commercial tobacco control using proven, evidence-based actions to reduce commercial tobacco use and exposure to secondhand smoke, and to prevent commercial tobacco use in the communityAccepting training, technical assistance and fully participating in the local and statewide youth empowerment program and initiatives.Supporting the coalition to strategize action to reduce youth commercial tobacco use in the county through policy and programsExpanding reach by participating in local/regional/state community events, conferences and/or fairs within assigned geographic areas to promote VOICE programs, campaigns/initiatives, and services.Submitting periodic electronic reports as required and respond to local and state needs for information as directed by the TPC Youth Program DirectorPerforming other duties as assigned by the Program Director of the Tobacco Education & Prevention Coalition for Porter County or the TPC Youth Program Director. Carpenter Foundation helps families in Chicagoland dealing with life-altering or terminal illnesses. The provide a variety of personal and professional services to these families. They have also started the Jim Carpenter Scholarship Fund. The scholarship is awarded annually to a Chicagoland High School seniors who have been affected by a life-altering or terminal illness (either themselves, family, or friends). It is the scholarship’s hope that this fund is used for many years, in Jim’s honor.

Assisting the LaPorte County Tobacco Prevention & Cessation Coalition in Gary, IN. The main advocacy project is to influence the new Hard Rock Casino to open smoke-free and create/communicate awareness of the benefits of business in the area to be/go/reopen smoke-free.

As a part of the ACBSP Accreditation team to pull and assess data on rubrics, Blackboard templates, syllabi, and other program related material. Lead the program adjustments to accommodate the ACBSP regulations. This work involves the Undergraduate, MBA, and DBA programs in the College of Business.

Lead the development, implementation, and now maintenance of the academic leveling program for the College of Business' MBA. This includes the coordination with the provider, marketing within the university, and communication to faculty and students about implementation.The leveling program is provided through Peregrine Academic Services. Peregrine services provides inbound tests, outbound tests, and online courses. They are customized to each school's needs. Concordia-Chicago's MBA tests incoming students on four quantitative subjects: accounting, economics, finance, and statistics. They test this as students graduate as well. If incoming students do not pass at the national average in each subject they are required to take an academic leveling module that consists of 4-6 of at-your-own-pace work.

Working with FacultyThis includes the staffing, hiring, and academic support of full time MBA professors as well as more than fifty adjunct professors. Qualified professors are identified and if more professors are needed, hired. This includes the process of posting the position, conducting interviews, and working with HR. Academic support is provided to professors in the form of answering course and scheduling questions. The position here is the focal point of contact for all operations issues: computer, AV, printing, classroom, etc. There are approximately 20 on campus and 20 online sections of course offered each 8 week term (with six 8 week terms a year).Internal and External CommunicationInternal communications occur between the College of Business and almost every department in the university. Some of the most important communications that happen internally include: using and updating information in the course catalog, and communities of practice (CAFE) on Blackboard. External communications occur between the College of Business and publishers, recruiters, potential students, and the community. This includes: acquiring course materials and make sure they are available to faculty and students, communicating MBA program changes (on campus and online), and working with the course designers and the instructional design team. This position also serves on at least two committees at any one time representing the College of Business.Working with StudentsThis serves as first line MBA adviser in conjunction with Graduate Program Specialist (GPS) to advise/resolve student and logistical issues and coordinate the grade appeal process. Maintaining a relationship with students is integral to acquire program, course, and professor feedback every 8 weeks.OperationsMonitors and reports on the level of optimization of business operations in the College of Business. Also, finding solutions to chase an ever improving operations management.
