Promoted recently to associate director to lead the Center's day to day operations, with oversight of 54 employees and an annual budget over $3 million. There is never a dull day, as there is never a typical day. I have the pleasure of conducting research on higher education admission and enrollment issues. Putting research into practice, I guide our USC College Advising Corps and our amazing 47 college advisers in their quest to help high school students navigate their paths to college. Vigorous fundraising and managing grants and contracts is a necessary part of the job. I also help our Center organize a thoughtful, big-picture conference on achieving equity in college admissions and enrollment that convenes 200 people from around the US and indeed the world. And I help recruit students for an innovative online postgraduate certificate program creating leaders in enrollment management.

• Managed grant portfolio of over $1 million. Evaluated grant proposals and conduct site visits to monitor grant projects. Cultivated quality grantees by marketing grant programs and conducting networking events and training workshops, including grantwriting sessions. • Conducted research for self-initiated projects, including writing education report used as basis for three-year $800,000/year initiative for educational outreach and international exchange. • Facilitated and managed in-house functions including roundtables, seminars, lectures and presentations. Created budgets and schedules, planned travel and handled logistics of events.• Assisted in overall public relations strategy. Project manager for new website. Produced and disseminated publications, oversaw publication of monthly newsletters, and actively participated in networking activities.• Promoted from program associate in 2009 and with progression in duties, trained and managed assistant to aid with small grants portfolio.

• Secured over $120,000 in grants in eleven months, including successful cultivation of new relationships with foundations for a newly established program. Researched and wrote grant proposals to foundation, corporate and government organizations. • Successfully cultivated new relationships with foundations for two new programs: environmentally sustainable business and youth entrepreneurship training. Also secured grants for small business program.• Communicated with existing donors, writing thank you letters, program updates and grant reports. Maintained database of donors on Salesforce.• Helped raise over $130,000 with 2008 ($60,000) and 2007 ($70,000) annual fundraising events. Solicited sponsorships to corporations and individuals, prepped silent auction, and ran raffle event. • Marketed events and workshops, helped produce monthly newsletter, and wrote press releases.• Attended grantwriting workshops at the Foundation Center and CompassPoint to polish skills.

• Wrote and awarded outside grants for research and language training totaling approximately $46,500.• Conducted primary and secondary research in English and Japanese using electronic resources, libraries and archives in US and Japan on modern Japanese literature and film.• As Film Library Assistant for the university’s East Asian Studies Department (2005), helped create catalog for Japanese, Korean and Chinese film collection and created procedure for back-up of all media files.• Selected and trained to be writing instructor for the Little Red Schoolhouse. Graded papers and created lesson plans for teaching critical writing concepts.

• Conducted primary and secondary research in English and Japanese using electronic resources, libraries and archives in US on modern Japanese literature and film. • As Student Assistant for the university’s Program on Aging (2003), researched studies of terminally-ill cancer patients and caregivers, designed PowerPoint presentations for staff meetings with professors and research staff, and maintained database of cancer surveys and studies.
