As a producer and journalist for the BBC’s flagship long-form interview programme, I was responsible for interview research, question preparation and script writing, studio output and on-location logistics, direction.
Research – for each programme I produced I wrote a comprehensive 20-page briefing document covering the background of the guest, relevant topic areas and areas of challenge for the interview
Writing/scripts – I created a proposed structure and interview outline, including questions and follow-ups, which the editor, presenter and I reviewed together and turned into the programme script
Studio output – I wrote introductions, VTs and real-time presenter guidance
Logistics – I organised, booked and attended location shoots as the key producer and directed the crew on setup and during filming
Podcasts – I edited each programme into a cut-down version for radio and podcast
