This summer I had the amazing opportunity to Intern with Kohl's. Throughout my internship I learned about Kohl's culture, operations, the Kohl's experience, and what it means to work in retail. I worked with so many passionate people and truly learned what it means to be apart of a team. There I got to manage a team of 80 employees while learning the retail industry. I learned many different management strategy of how to motivate employees and drive results. Kohl's has a very hands on culture, management was not there to only guide and inspire people, but to participate and help. Through is internship my passion for management and people has only grown and I am very thankful for this experience.

At the Ohio University Inn and Conference Center I worked as a Front desk agent. I am the first person guest see when entering the Hotel and the last person the guest see when departing. My Job held many different responsibilities. I was not only in charge of welcoming guest to the hotel, but making sure all there needs were met, and there stay was rememberable. The front desk acts as a central hub for the hotel. This means I had to stay in constant communication with every department within the hotel including housekeeping, maintenance, the restaurant, and management. I loved the multitasking aspect of this job and my ability to have a direct positive impact on the guest stay. Through this job I have gained experience in management, hospitality, and accounting. I have become a quick problem solver managing the desk independently, while enhancing my customer relations skills. As a front desk agent I was in charge of billing and worked closely with the hotels accountant making sure every payment was processed accordingly and recorded.

The Ohio University Business Cluster brings teachers from multiple disciplines into one class and has students work as teams to solve business problems. The teams analyze an industry to find out the threats, trends, and opportunities the industry has to face. The student teams are then challenged to apply what they've learned from all four disciplines to solve problems within a given industry. During my time in the Business Cluster, my classmates and I were given the task of breaking down the grocery store industry. From May 2015 to August 2019 I have been a loyal and dedicated Subway employee. During my time at Subway, I was able to develop new skills, take on more responsibility, and learn how to become a leader. There my skills in communication and problem solving were utilized when handling customer complaints, and unexpected mishaps. With hard work and attention to detail I was promoted within my first 6 months of the job. I was promoted to Shift Leader where I had the responsibility of training new employees, closing/opening the store, and keeping track of inventory. I had a wonderful experience working for this company and I value every learning experience I had over my four years there.
