As an Elon University student, I have developed a strong passion for Public Health, International & Global Studies, and French. Growing up, my family's experience hosting foreign exchange students has greatly influenced my desire to learn about different cultures. In college, through the DIS Study Abroad in Scandinavia program, I continued my interest in global engagement by studying abroad in Copenhagen, Denmark. My future studies in the Periclean Scholar program will allow me to study in Jamkhed, India, partnering with the Comprehensive Rural Health Project to address health disparities in the community. I am working towards becoming a well-rounded global citizen, where civic engagement with local and international communities will help me become a culturally competent public and global health practitioner. My love for learning and working with communities is a driving force in my life, pushing me to further my education and curiosities through research. My undergraduate research with Professor Dr. Scott Morrison and community mentor Ms. Ashlie Thomas is investigating the complexities and multi-purposes of community gardens in partnership with the Morrowtown Community, a historically lower-resourced Black neighborhood in Burlington, North Carolina.
