Born and raised in San Antonio, Texas, Guajardo graduated with a bachelors degree in Convergence Journalism from Abilene Christian University, and a masters degree in journalism and public relations from Baylor University. Professionally, Guajardo has worked for various communication agencies and organizations including, San Antonio Magazine, Giant Noise PR, The Waco Foundation, 1797 Creative, the Cybersecurity Manufacturing Innovation Institute, Baylor University, The University of Texas at San Antonio, The University of Oklahoma, and ACU Online. She has also been published by multiple publications including San Antonio Magazine, The Optimist Newspaper, Odyssey Online, Latina Magazine, and The Bundle focusing primarily on arts and culture. Most recently, Guajardo serves as the Content Marketing Specialist with ACU Online, as the primary marketing writer for ACU Online's marketing team. Guajardo is also pursing her doctoral degree at The University of Oklahoma in Mass Communications with an emphasis on strategic communications, specializing in religious and political communications and crises. Guajardo has a strong emphasis in focusing on topics ranging from American politics, image repair theory, religious/political communication, persuasion, ideology, crisis communications and framing theory. Her work has been presented in various conferences and published in journals related to mass communications and journalism. In her spare time, Emily enjoys spending time with her family and husband, reading historically based books, working out, spending time outdoors, and cooking classic Mexican dishes.
