Field And Research InternMadagascar Biodiversity Partnership Jun 2014 - Aug 2014Kianjavato, MadagascarI received a grant from Lewis and Clark College to assist a Malagasy PhD student in conducting research on the genetics of mouse lemurs in southeastern Madagascar. I worked with a team of local guides to locate and capture individual lemurs in order to collect fecal and blood samples for genetic testing. I also collected morphological data on individual lemurs in order to create a species description. In addition, I also participated in a reforestation project, behavioral genetics research, and wildlife veterinary work while living at the field station in Madagascar.
