As the Special Initiatives Manager for the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services Division of Public Health I support the diverse public health initiatives. I conduct research, develop strategies, and leverage teamwork to create positive change in the state.My passion for health equity stems from my diverse and impactful experiences in the field. I volunteered as a student nurse at a free medical clinic, where I witnessed the inequities of our healthcare system and provided patient care. I served as a Maternal and Child Health Education volunteer with the Peace Corps in Zambia, where I learned the value and power of community. I earned my Master of Public Health degree from Emory University, where I engaged with changemakers, activists, and public health leaders. I contributed to chronic stress research, opioid prevention, curriculum development, and health education projects, using my skills in data analysis, program planning, and health communications.I love to promote and champion health in creative and strategic ways, and I am always eager to learn and grow as a public health professional. My goal is to use my knowledge, skills, and experiences to make a difference in the health and well-being of people and communities.
