    My current role is Senior Vocal Curriculum Leader for Sutton Music Trust, a part-time position that I have held since 2016. Prior to my employment, SMT had no vocal provision and I was employed to develop a singing strategy and increase engagement with singing activities in the London Borough of Sutton. In this role, I have achieved the following:- successfully established two borough choirs for talented young singers- supported the implementation of two further choirs to ensure that the vocal provision extends from 5 years to 80 years old!- established annual KS1, KS2 and KS3/4 Big Sings- developed relationships with National Singing Organisations including the Royal Opera House's 'Create & Sing' programme, Sing Up, Friday Afternoons and the Voices Foundation- set up a network for Singing Leads across the UK in response to the Covid-19 pandemic. This was originally for SW London Music Hubs, however, it has spread to include Singing Leads from across the country!- recruitment and development of vocal tutors/choir leaders

    London based soprano Emily Murphy trained at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music & Dance specialising in Early Music (MMus Merit - Voice). Whilst at Trinity, Emily studied with Laureen Livingstone and Timothy Travers-Brown as well as receiving tuition from renowned musicians such as Philip Thorby and Belinda Sykes. Since graduating, she has also studied with Marie Vassiliou.Previously, Emily gained her BMus Hons (2:1) from Royal Holloway, University of London, whilst studying singing at the Royal College of Music with Eiddwen Harrhy. Singing since the age of 8, Emily has sung with many choirs including the Ionian Singers, Celestial Sirens, Musica Secreta and the Delphian Singers. Emily also directs and sings in the prize-winning ensemble, Virtuosa.With over 13 years experience working as a choral animateur and director, Emily has worked for several projects including Kingston Music Service’s Infant Singing Festival (2017 & 2016), the Dartford Choral Project (2011-2014), a joint BREMF and OAE ‘Gloria’ educational project (2013) and a SoundHub funded African music project (2014).Emily’s current post is as Senior Vocal Curriculum Leader for Sutton Music Trust. As part of this role, Emily enjoys developing large-scale singing projects and offering children and young people in Sutton the opportunity to engage with singing activities. She is passionate about singing and education and hopes to provide as many young people as possible with the opportunity to find their voice.

    Founded by Director Emily Murphy in 2010, Virtuosa are an all-female vocal ensemble based on the concerto delle donne of the 1580s at the court of Ferrara. Taking their name from the virtuosic vocal style prominent during the late 16th and early 17th centuries, Virtuosa are committed to bringing to life the music that would have been sung by the first professional female vocal ensemble.Virtuosa consists of sopranos Emily Gadd, Louise Eekelaar and mezzo-soprano Bethia Hourigan accompanied by Toby Carr and Aileen Henry, all past students of Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance. Virtuosa's programmes are varied and exciting, interspersing trios with duets and solos from the late sixteenth and early seventeenth centuries, including madrigals by Luzzaschi, Wert, Agostini, Marenzio and Cipriano de Rore.
