I supported the workshop "In Vitro-Derived Human Gametes as a Reproductive Technology: Scientific, Ethical, and Regulatory Implications," and drafted the resulting proceedings. The workshop was covered by USA Today, NPR, among others. Additionally, I collaborated with Mirzayan Fellows to develop policy recommendations for two complex public health challenges. These recommendations were published by the Journal of Science Policy & Governance and SciTech Forefront.

Developed cooperative relationships with clients by prioritizing customer service and providing analytical feedback and high-quality deliverables. Demonstrated adaptability and flexibility by writing about topics outside of my main area of expertise. Prepared grant applications for funding agencies including the NIH, Department of Health and Human Services, and the American Medical Association. Wrote manuscripts targeted for submission at peer-reviewed journals in collaboration with researchers from academia and/or industry. Reviewed and edited scientific materials for clients to enhance scientific impact, improve readability, and correct grammatical errors.

Guided scientists as they crafted brief science-related articles intended for a broad audience. Provided high-level feedback on how each scientist could enhance their narrative impact. Facilitated discussions on the tenets of strong scientific communication.

Greater New York City Area

Investigated the impact of maternal age on reproductive fitness using Drosophila melanogaster as a model system. Developed skills in super-resolution microscopy, quantitative cell biology, and fly genetics. Contributed to work that resulted in a co-author publication (Current Biology) and presented my work at local meetings. Directed and supervised project design, completion, and presentation of results for a graduate rotation student and an undergraduate student.

Investigated the defects in embryonic germ cell development that promote testicular cancer. Developed expertise in a variety of molecular, developmental and genetic assays, including confocal microscopy, fluorescence-activated cell sorting, embryo dissections, immunohistochemistry, and genetically engineered mouse model development (i.e., CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing). Performed this work with the support of a prestigious pre-doctoral fellowship from the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas ($26K annually). Published two first-author manuscripts and three co-author manuscripts in journals including PNAS and Development. Selected to share my findings in platform presentations at the Germ Cell Meeting and the Society for the Study of Reproduction Meeting. Mentored two graduate students and a high school student on topics including experimental design, lab techniques, grant and manuscript writing, and presentation results.
