Since the onset of COVID-19 the workload of this unit has significantly increased; as such members from other areas of the service, myself included, have been seconded to temporarily assist. My role, formally titled a scribe, involves the generation of documents that communicate recommendations for COVID-19 concerning member exposure, symptoms, testing parameters and return to work. These documents are now in the process of being formatted as Unit Specific Policies that speak to the COVID-19 Management Strategy being implemented by the Wellness Unit. As the pandemic continues to evolve so does this position. My role now incorporates a training component where I am responsible for the generation and implementation of training to the 30+ people who are responding to TPS members via the 24 hour pandemic hotline. This position requires a high degree of attention to detail and strong organizational skills. My time with Detective Operations as a Planner/Analyst has been instrumental for the time management and decision making components required for this job. Additionally the adaptability and people skills highlighted with my role at 51 Division as a Special Constable have been invaluable when navigating various conversations that often involve heightened emotions during a time of such uncertainty.
