Editor President
As Editor and President of York Vision, I oversee all that we publish and produce as well as being the President of the University society. Managing a team of writers as well as making the final decisions over our paper the role comes with a lot of responsibility, and a need for time management as well as requiring excellent communication skills. Within the role, I regularly talk to a range of people such as the Student Union, local businesses and students wanting to get involved. I have had some incredible opportunities to interview people such as the Marrow Charity and Online Influences. My main love within the role is the people aspect, I enjoy being able to give people a voice and allowing them to communicate their stories or the amazing things they are doing. As well as this, I enjoy running a society and being in charge of a strong team around me ensuring that we are always providing a welcoming, diverse and fun space.

As the SCENE editor, I edit the arts and culture magazine that is a pull-out of York Vision. Within this role I am in charge of a team, make decisions when approaching print deadlines, and am responsible for the layup of the paper. I have experience in using WordPress, InDesign, Photoshop, and Office 365 which I regularly use to publish content both online and in print. As well as being editor, I regularly write for the paper and have written in many sections including News, Features, Sport, Opinion and Relationships.
English Tutor
As a Tutor for MyTutor, I regularly help students improve their English skills. This could be leading up to a GCSE or A-Level exam or on a more basic level of using the English language in day to day life.
Editorial Intern
As an editorial intern with Trill Mag, I lead a team of 4 people and guide them through creating an article. This is from deciding an initial topic to constructing ideas and then ensuring their work is of the highest standard. Within the role, I regularly communicate with my team and my editor to ensure we are all on the same page with ideas and working collaboratively throughout the process to make sure that articles are produced and shared as much as possible. I use Slack, Trello and WordPress to communicate with my writers and formulate articles. I then share their work via Instapaper, Substack, and Medium. The role requires excellent organisation, time management, precision and flexibility. As well as this, I am able to be creative in helping generate new and interesting stories whether that be unique angles or more niche topics.
Freelance Writer
Starting as a summer intern for Trill Magazine, I am now a full-time freelance writer for this online platform. With my main focus on news, I have written many articles from the resignation of Liz Truss to cheating scandals within the chess world. Being published around once a week, I have learned how to work up against a deadline and report on breaking news/time-sensitive news stories. As well as this, I have improved my WordPress skills enormously getting used to how to frame an article for an online platform. This role has allowed me to grow in my journalism skills, improve my writing style across a range of topics and enhance my skill of working effectively under pressure.
Content Creator
As a content creator for Howl Publishing, I am paid to create content writing for SEO and marketing agencies. I am given a brief, an anchor for a company and then create content based on this. No two jobs are the same and I am constantly adapting my writing and editing styles to suit out clients.
