I represent clients with the purchase, sale and leasing of real estate, including contract drafting and negotiation, due diligence and closings. In the environmental arena, I counsel clients with environmental compliance and regulatory issues related to management and cleanup of environmental contamination, underground storage tanks, waste management and avoiding and managing environmental liabilities.With expertise in both real estate and environmental law, I routinely assist buyers, sellers and lenders with the following:• analysis of environmental risks and responsibilities related to real estate transactions, corporate acquisitions and financing;• performance of environmental due diligence to achieve and maintain cleanup liability protection under federal and Michigan law;• facilitating the acquisition, sale and cleanup of environmentally challenged properties; and• evaluation of environmental considerations specific to lending institutions and real estate financing.
