Provides strategic vision and expertise directing AAHPM’s integrated marketing plan and leading efforts to enhance member value and engagement. Fosters a culture of innovation, creativity and collaboration. Directs all branding and corporate identity initiatives. Works to position the Academy as the authoritative leader in hospice and palliative medicine education, advocacy, and community.

As part of the membership and marketing team of the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine, I work to recruit, engage and support members. I serve as liaison to 30 member communities (Special Interest Groups, Councils and Forums) comprised of hospice and palliative medicine clinicians. Plan and implement elections, in person meetings, symposia review and quarterly conferences for these communities. Provide strategic direction and administrative support to the AAHPM’s Communities Committee. Manage applications, reviews, and direct the convocation for the distinction, Fellow of the AAHPM. Worked as a staff liaison to development consultants on 1.5 million capital campaign directed to support education, workforce and advocacy initiatives. Worked with members on past programming of the Academy, including the AAHPM Clinical Scholars program, the year- long mentoring program and Fellowship Directors Annual Summit.

Conducted orientation for new staff; prepared training materials and coordinated the in house clinical staff presentations. Planned and assisted with continuing education for staff. Scheduled outside speaking engagements, prepared presentation handouts and generated reports of attendance. Processed student applications for professional learning experiences, scheduled and arranged for clinical rotations for medical students. As Fellowship Program Coordinator, worked directly with the Chief Medical Officer and Director of Palliative Medicine Fellowship, assisted with all administrative tasks including, but not limited to, preparing rotation schedules, curriculum materials and rotation logistics. Member: “Fellowship Curriculum Committee” which earned Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) inaugural accreditation for the Midwest Hospice and Palliative Medicine Integrated Fellowship. Utilized “Med Hub” and “New Innovations” Medical Education Software

Implemented curriculum, managed classroom, organized and maintained student portfolios. Member of School Improvement Steering Committee: responsible for developing information materials and schedules for US Dept. of Education audit team. Pilot teacher for Cultural Curriculum “Completing the Circle”, integrated specific teaching practices with Native American Literature and culturally sensitive learning opportunities to enhance comprehension and vocabulary in Native American students. Presented at National Indian School Board Association Conference, addressed the need for traditional storytelling to be incorporated into successful reading programs. Certified “Collaborative Literacy Intervention Program” teacher through Arizona State University.
