Undergraduate Teaching Assistant
Phoenix, Arizona Area
As an undergraduate teaching assistant, I worked alongside professors to teach course concepts to students inside and outside of the classroom. I was a teaching assistant for 3 different computer science courses -- Principles of Programming Languages, Object-Oriented Programming, and Digital Design Fundamentals. I assisted students with their coding assignments by analyzing logic, promoting good programming practices, and teaching about debugging and testing code on a weekly basis. I create content for in-class exercises and exam review sessions to reinforce concepts taught and to give additional perspectives on thinking about topics ranging from pointers to linked lists, and functional programming as well.In my first teaching assistant role, I aided in Elements of Intercultural Communication by creating a role playing simulation game with my professor as a new way of teaching a variety of theories on cultural dimensions, conflict styles, psychological types, and communication patterns in an hands on manner. This game and the discussions that go along with it are being worked into a paper discussing the power of role-playing games as a performative tool in the teaching of Intercultural Communication to be submitted to the Text & Performance Quarterly.
