At Cannon-Muskegon we develop and produce vacuum induction melt single crystal and directionally-solidified alloys that are used in aerospace and defense, as well as produce numerous other commercial nickel and cobalt-base alloys for remelt applications. We also specialize in air melt stainless steel and medical-grade cobalt alloys.Currently, my primary focus at Cannon is the preparation of furnace charge calculations of raw and revert materials while adhering to strict proprietary fixed processes. Additionally, I prevent unwanted reactions or contaminations that can happen in the melting process by assisting with schedule sequencing and raw material conformity. I assist our technical and quality engineers with our internal process documents/specs and troubleshoot negative production outcomes, as well as contribute to production planning and writing our departmental SOPs. In my day-to-day I am involved in logistical planning and communication for our raw and scrap materials to ensure their availability on site when needed. In my time at Cannon, I have also held a senior lab position analyzing via X-Ray Fluorescence and Optical Emission, as well as calculating and issuing adds and dilutions to in-process alloy. This also required accurate reporting of data sets on internal documents and in LIMS software. When deciding to pursue an education in the sciences, I felt that my education didn't necessarily begin and end at the classroom door. I offered my time to Muskegon Community College's chemistry and biology labs not only to gain worthwhile laboratory experience, but also to solidify my learning in the classroom. This was an incredible experience that strongly confirmed my interest in research and analysis. In all of my job and education opportunities, I have done my best to meet or exceed expectations: • I am hardworking, detail oriented, and highly organized; I've instituted organizational methods and standards. • I am quick-learning and I follow directions precisely. • I solve problems creatively and I always strive to find efficiencies when/where needed. • I've played key roles in decreasing/eliminating waste in the workplace and instituted processes. • I tend to take leadership roles when in a group, but will stay on task when left alone; I am self-motivated.
