Hello, my name is Emily DeJong. My experiences in Child Development have been with me for a decade. I started out being a babysitter for my neighbors with their young children. I was later employed at a Ski Mountain called, "Campgaw Ski Mountain Resort" where I was a determined instructor for children between the ages of 3 to 6 years old. My job as a ski instructor built up my education about how to teach children to be safe with equipment, knowing their self-esteem, as well as building connections with the families of those children where they would reach out to me for private lessons. I have also achieved another job as a Lifeguard Instructor at my local town pool. I was instructed to keep everyone in the pool facility safe as well as have the opportunity to teach children that were starting to learn how to swim, which were the ages of 6 to 10 years old. During my time as a Lifeguard, I rescued around 4 children from drowning, which was a huge achievement. After such an occasion, my manager promoted me as Head Guard for the upcoming season next year and the year after that. I give great communication skills when talking to parents or children about flaws or successes that the children achieve. I take pride in myself to assist children in their growth and be a source of help in their education. I want to be able to be a support group for those children and families that are going through hard times such as being a Child Life Specialist
