Profile bio

About Emily Edwards

With experience in archiving, conservation and collections management through my Placement Year and volunteering roles, I am excited to gain more experience in archival practice alongside my MA at Aberystwyth University.I am passionate about social justice and am eager to apply this to my work. My research focus has centred around amplifying marginalised voices with projects such as the 'I Am A Man and A Brother' Medallion display and being a founding member of the English Department's Decolonisation Committee. This has culminated in my undergraduate dissertation focussing on the role of women in the early British abolitionist movement.

Administrative Assistant

Madeley Surgery

Madeley, England, United Kingdom

Working at Madeley Surgery was extremely helpful in allowing me to develop my skills in a fast-paced workplace environment. With my key responsibilities including data entry onto a patients medical record and general administrative duties within the office, I learnt data management and how to file effectively. I am eager to see how I can transfer this knowledge into my future career in the heritage sector. I learned how to navigate a variety of applications and my IT skills improved dramatically during my time working at the surgery. Since a large portion of my job was working with medical records, I learned the importance of both confidentiality and concentration. Despite some of the work being repetitive, it was essential when entering data that it was done accurately. Through this, I learned how to handle and embrace responsibility, whilst benefitting from the close-knit community at Madeley Practice.
