Emily Hauser is Senior Lecturer in Classics and Ancient History at the University of Exeter and the author of an acclaimed trilogy of novels reworking the women of Greek myth, including FOR THE MOST BEAUTIFUL (2016, Penguin Random House); she also co-edited READING POETRY, WRITING GENRE (2018, Bloomsbury). She read Classics at the University of Cambridge, studied at Harvard University as a Fulbright Scholar, and received her PhD in Classics from Yale University in 2017. From 2017-2018 Emily was a Junior Fellow at the Harvard Society of Fellows. Her research focuses on women in antiquity, gender studies, Homer, and the theory and practice of classical reception, particularly in contemporary women’s writing. Her next book, HOW WOMEN BECAME POETS, looks at the gendering of authorship in ancient Greek poetry and is forthcoming with Princeton University Press (2023).
