Undergraduate Molecular Virology ResearcherDurham University Jul 2024 - Sep 2024- Conducted a six-week research project as part of the Laidlaw Leadership and Research Program.- Gained hands-on experience in protein expression and purification.- Utilised biomolecular techniques such as size exclusion chromatography and protein gel electrophoresis.- Enhanced technical skills beyond standard undergraduate lab practices. -
Undergraduate Scientific IllustratorDurham University Apr 2024 - May 2024Produced a scientific illustration for the front cover of a book on botanicals for good sleep and dreaming.- Supported with £550 for a new laptop to facilitate my involvement in this project -
Undergraduate Clinical Data AnalystDurham University Mar 2024 - Apr 2024Analysed data from St. George's Hospital focused on the "Live Well with Pain" group. This project aligns with the broader goal of understanding and addressing chronic pain management, which is a significant healthcare challenge worldwide. The research is leading to a publication with St George’s Hospital London, where I shall be named as a co-author. Completed objectives - Assess the quality and completeness of the dataset to ensure its suitability for analysis- Evaluate the effectiveness of the Live Well with Pain program in managing chronic pain by comparing pre-and post-intervention outcomes. - Generate graphs and perform statistical tests for use in a paper- Supported with £1,275 from the Hatfield Trust to facilitate my involvement in this project -
Process TechnologistGsk Aug 2022 - Sep 2023Ware, England, United KingdomI worked in the product performance team for multi-billion dollar respiratory product, Ellipta.Data Analysis for Breakages: Utilised specialist programs to access and analyse large volumes of data, identifying breakages and anomalies in product performance.Mentoring and Training: Played a key role in mentoring and training pharmacy graduates and industrial placement students.Technical report writing: Authored a technical report for the validation working party of a global change control that implemented a second source of supply to secure the global supply chain. I compiled and applied multiple source documents to de-risk a gap to proceed with the validation process. My report was drafted, reviewed, and data checked in a short timeframe for deadlines for other change control activities to be met. I responded to comments and reviews across multiple departments, including Technical, Quality, Validation and Launch & Change. I also authored the PPQ report towards the end of the validation activity, which covered the manufacturing and testing requirements detailed previously in the PPQ protocol.Manufacturing investigation lead: Manufacturing Investigation lead for a Field Alert Report for an out-of-specification batch on stability for submission to the FDA. I also led multiple manufacturing investigation reports for API batches with atypical results that needed urgent completion because of a shortage in supply that had halted production. In both investigations, I participated in problem-solving meetings to identify potential causes for the atypicality with multiple departments, such as quality and testing labs. These investigations required large amounts of data collation and visualisation covering all aspects of the manufacturing process and previous batch trending.Product Performance Reviews: Authored annual Product Performance reviews, creating trend slides for all products and their respective tests to analyse performance and identify areas for improvement. -
Science Society PresidentQuest Dec 2020 - Dec 2021As elected president of my state school's science society, I led a group of internationally collaborative science projects.Organised and executed QE Science Week 2020, a two-week event focused on environmental sustainability and conservation, featuring both virtual and in-person activities.- Coordinated daily lunchtime talks with QE alumni and industry experts- Managed and promoted competitions including a themed bake-off, an upcycling challenge, and a random science fact Kahoot quiz to engage students and promote environmental awareness.- Arranged assemblies on diverse topics, from exoplanets to quantum computing, delivered by sixth-form students- Led Geek T-Shirt Day, a fundraising initiative supporting the Woodland Trust and future science projects at QE.- Successfully adapted the event to a hybrid format to overcome the challenges posed by COVID-19, ensuring continued community engagement and educational impact.Wrote and coordinated the collation of student contributions for the termly newsletter, showcasing the highlights and achievements of the society. When I was elected, the society consisted of a small group of 15 students, with me being one of three girls. Widening participation was my main objective during my time as president. When we handed over the science society to the following committee, we had quadrupled extracurricular STEM participation at my school, transforming the society. Organised a series of in-person and virtual guest speakers, broadening student understanding of various scientific fields. Highlights included: - Dr. Ben Goult from the University of Kent on the MESHcode theory for understanding brain and memory function. - Anne D Jungblut presented on the polar microbiome.- Dr. Diane Aston from the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining delivered a talk on material science. - Dr. Ben Still from St. Paul's School used LEGO analogies to explain particle physics.- Mark Moreton to discuss veterinary careers.
