I work as part of the River Severn Climate Resilience Strategy and Adaptation Pathways Pilot project team.

Climate Change Policy Manager

I joined Water UK to lead on their climate resilience workstreams. My mainresponsibilities included leading on the implementation of Drainage andWastewater Management Plans, sewer network blockages, water efficiency, waterresources, flooding and climate resilience.I led on consultation responses for the workstreams above. This included theNational Infrastructure Commission’s (NIC) Call for evidence on Surface WaterFlooding Study in December 2021 and the Defra Call for evidence onproblematic plastics (including wet wipes) in February 2022. I managed the Fine to Flush accreditation for wet wipes, which encourages manufacturers to use more environmentally friendly materials in their wet wipes, that more easily break down in sewer networks, lowering the risk of blockages and pollutions. I’m pleased to have approved the 100th accreditation for the scheme. I contributed technical input towards both the national blockages and water efficiency campaigns.

Flood Partnerships Manager

I joined Anglian Water (AW) to write the successful PR19 business case forpartnership funding, securing a £12.1m Programme approved by Oftwat in 2019. AsProgramme Manager for the Partnership Funding Programme (PFP), the roleinvolved building and maintaining strong partnerships and extensive engagementwith our Flood Risk Management (FRM) partners across East Anglia. I workedalongside FRM partners developing schemes ranging from property flood resilienceand retrofit rain garden projects to multimillion pound fluvial and coastal schemes,to secure maximum benefits for our assets and our customers. Leading on internaland external partnership FRM schemes, I provided collaborative and coordinatedlinks across our region with the Environment Agency, Local Councils and InternalDrainage Boards, as well as liaising across our border with other water companies. I also assisted with engagement and collaboration workshops for Anglian's Drainage and Wastewater Management Plan. I developed the AW funding application and benefits assessment process, and I looked into assessing the wider environmental benefits (such as water quality improvements and carbon reduction). I managed all incoming funding applications, including associated datasets and modelling outputs. I actively contributed towards developing EU, Defra and Ofwat innovation funding proposals for partnership schemes as well as inputting into flood risk related policy consultations. I led on producing technical update papers for several internal groups including senior leaders and was responsible for the flood partnerships AMP7 performance commitment, including performance reporting and annual audits. I represented Anglian Water at various regional and national working groups.

I was also responsible for managing the Christmas orders for three years ensuring hundreds of customers were able to collect their Christmas meats and trimmings on time. The responsibility had previously only been given to management level employees however I accepted the challenge and was personally thanked by the Branch Manager for dedication and excellent service.
