I am currently a Stephen M. Kellen term member on the Council on Foreign Relations, a professorial lecturer in Asian Studies at George Washington University's Elliott School of International Affairs, and an adjunct professor of modern China in Georgetown University's Department of History. My PhD and MA are in History from the University of Virginia, and my BA is in East Asian Studies from the College of William and Mary, where I graduated summa cum laude and was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa. I have also taken a number of East Asian and Chinese history, international relations, and language courses in Mandarin at Peking University and Beijing Language and Culture University. I started my CFR involvement as an Education Ambassador last year when I was an Assistant Teaching Professor in the Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service, Asian Studies Program. I am an ongoing research affiliate at University of Virginia's East Asia Center and also continue to be involved with the Wilson Center, where I was a China fellow in 2021-22. I am a passionate and experienced instructor and have designed and taught courses in East Asian history at Georgetown University, American University, the College of William and Mary, and Randolph College. My research interests include Manchuria, museums, historical memory, and World War II, and I am currently working on the manuscript of my first book, which explores the official change to China's World War II timeline in 2017. I am fluent in spoken and written Mandarin Chinese and Spanish, have business proficiency in Japanese, and have elementary proficiency in Russian.

In my dissertation, "China's Museopolitics: Evolving Narratives on the War of Resistance against Japan," I examine the evolving narrative of the War of Resistance against Japan through the medium of museums in Northeastern China and elsewhere. I earned my Masters in History in fall 2016 after passing comprehensive exams in the fields of Chinese History, Japanese History, and Memory Studies. In addition, I have been a teacher's assistance for 5 distinct semester-long history courses in the History Department: Modern China, World War II, Modern Japan, Modern Russia, and Nazi Germany. In this role, I led 3 weekly 50-minute discussion sections of 20 students each, utilizing analytical and organization skills to assess and provide constructive feedback on student participation, exams, and papers. -
