Current• Directs and administers $17.5 million statewide programming in the public and private sectors for the creation of tobacco-free environments for all Arizonans.• Develops and maintains relationships and contract agreements with internal and external partners including community based organizations, local health departments, health plans and providers, Tobacco Revenue Utilization Spending and Tracking (TRUST) Commission, coalitions, employers, universities, and voluntary organizations.• Supervises and directs staff and subcontractors, including the Black Hills Center for American Indian Health, University of Arizona, and American Lung Association; effectively manages multiple program contracts and grants, including the $2.5 million National State-based Tobacco Control Program.• Coordinates technical assistance, provides budget oversight, and analyzes statewide policy recommendations to local county health departments. Guides strategic planning, training, and surveillance efforts with federal, state, and local governments.• Develops and oversees $3 million statewide Emmy-award winning media campaigns promoting tobacco prevention and cessation among youth and adults. Directs local ad agencies, production staff, and works across ADHS divisions and with the Governor’s Office to develop messaging and marketing approaches.• Authors, submits, and presents reports, plans, contracts, and other documents to officers within ADHS, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS), and other key partners.• Acted as the health emergency operations center lead for the State of Arizona in response to the 2019 e-cigarette or vaping use-associated lung injury (EVALI) outbreak. Assembled a cross-agency response team, facilitated statewide data collection and analysis, developed policy recommendations, and reported to CDC, ADHS Director’s Office, the Governor’s Office, and key stakeholders.
